The transplant service is supported by 3 consultant paediatric nephrologists and 2 transplant clinical nurse specialists.

Transplant specialist nurses

Michelle Kirkland

Michelle Kirkland has been a senior specialist nurse for transplantation since 2022.

Before this she was the manager of the children's kidney ward for many years. 

Abby Sanders

Abby Sanders is a junior sister for paediatric transplantation.

Before joining the specalist renal nurses' team in 2022, she specialised in paediatric intensive care.

There are five consultant transplant surgeons who carry out transplants in both adults and children.  They carry out all the living donor operations for both donors and recipients as well as providing 24/7 cover for deceased donor transplantation and transplant complications.
