uraemia
The condition where a person gets sick from urea and other waste products building up in the blood. Symptoms may include nausea, weight loss and trouble sleeping.
Synonyms - uremia
urea
A waste product from protein which is excreted by the kidneys.  In kidney failure, it builds up and can cause symptoms (uraemia).
ureter
The tube that drains urine from the kidney into the bladder.
urethra
The tube that drains urine from the bladder to the outside of the body.
urinalysis
Testing urine by dipstick, which can be done in the clinic or at home.  Common things tested for include blood, protein, leucocytes (white blood cells) and nitrites.  The presence of nitrites or leucocytes may mean infection.
